80 years to become an overnight success!
Whilst it might seem like a sudden event its more the accumulation of years of experience.
At the age of 10 Terence started to draw, copying caricatures from his comics. This lasted about 3 months. It wasn’t until he was 27 that he decided to go to art classes one night a week, run by artist Walter Kershaw. This lasted around 3 years and was more of a social evening than a painting class.
For his 50th birthday, Terence’s wife bought him a gift voucher at a local art school run by John Hastle, again Terence only painted on class night. He would attend classes for about 2 years before leaving then going back 2 or 3 years later. This went on and off for about 22 years.
A New Beginning
It wasn’t until 4 years ago at the age of 78 that Terence took to art again, this time more seriously. He decided to take up drawing lessons and practiced every day. As a result, his drawing skills developed very quickly. About the same time he joined an art class run by Cathrin Lansdale.
He then went online and found an art course run by the Milan Art Institute. He signed up for this and as a result was practicing art almost full time. His art skills developed overnight, and the rest is history. My art is abstract mixed media collage with various subjects and line drawings.
Please take a look at my styles and the inspiration behind them.

Artist Statement
I’ve always been interested in art, my favourite artist is Kandinsky for his geometric abstracts and strong colour. Although I didn’t have a formal art training, being a hairdresser for over 60 years probably helped in developing my artistic talent.
When painting or drawing, I just get lost in time, and I can’t believe how a few tubes of paint and a couple of brushes can produce a work of art. I’m always moved and just love drawing and painting.
